India is to play against Sri Lanka in three ODIs and a T-20 series in the month of July. The BCCI on Monday announced that an Indian team will travel to Sri Lanka for a bilateral series in July. The ODI matches will be held on July 13, 16, 19 and the T-20 matches on July 22, 24, 27.
Although the BCCI has not announced the squad yet reports claim that star players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah etc. won’t be part of this series as they are likely to be in England for the World Test Championship finals and test series against England.
For that, many uncapped youngsters will get a chance in the Indian team against Sri Lanka. There are also talks that former Indian cricketer and mentor at National Cricket Academy (NCA) Rahul Dravid will go as the head coach in this series.
BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, speaking on the tour said, “Yes, it will be a team of white ball specialists. It will be a different team.” Earlier the IPL was suspended due to Covid-19 outbreak among the players and BCCI is likely to hold the remaining matches later this year.
