A top militant of the United Liberation front of Asom- Independent (ULFA-I) has been killed in an ambush between Assam Police and the banned outfit at Bongaigaon. Police launched an operation at Besimari under Manikpur PS in Bongaigaon Districtat the early hours of 29th April.

The dead cadre has been identified as SS Col Dipen Saud alias Ramen Nath alias Jishnu Asom, who was recently appointed as the Commander Western Command, after Drishti Rajkhowa’s arrest.

Our brave officers and battalion personnel from Bongaigaon district came to learn about location of some suspected militants today early hours which culminated in an encounter at Besimari under Manikpur PS in Bongaigaon District a little while ago.

“We had intel that indicated that ULFA Western Command was planning some high profile kidnapping in collaboration with some other anti-India forces which now appears to be foiled,” stated a press release from Assam Police.

In another instance, Dhubri Police, in a joint operation with Special Branch of Assam Police and a Central Agency apprehended two Neo-JMB Cadres from Larkura area under Gauripur PS. One of the cadres was apprehended with 4 firearms and Rs 1.02 Lakhs in Fake Indian Currency Note (FICN).

Investigation of the arrested cadres unearthed an evident nexus between local Jihadi cadres and members across the border that are trying relentlessly to derail the peace and economic progress of the region through their Jihadi propaganda as well as FICN. Assam Police is collaborating hugely with the aforementioned Central Agency to identify such racketeers, both within India and from across the border and bring them to justice.

A massive manhunt has already been launched to capture other cadres/members of the module/group associated with the two apprehended JMB/Neo-JMB cadre.
